The 1998 Meursault Village is surprisingly backward and reticent on the nose, eventually revealing scents of cockleshell, popcorn and almond with time, perhaps slightly more tertiary than the ’99 tasted alongside. The palate is nicely balanced with citrus lemon, orange zest and a touch of walnut.
A large part of the explanation for the high quality is most likely found in the vineyards, where a thorough work combined with very old vines in several vineyards yield som special wines. He manages to make wines that are both fresh and resilient although the cellar liquor store concentration is quite high, something very few manufacturers are able to match. The first time I tasted Coche-Dury was back in 1995 when I was served a Meursault village from 1992. This village wine nailed several Grand Crus to the wall on that occasion.

Corton-Charlemagne is not even the home turf of Coche-Dury, yet if one can find it, a Charlie from the estate could well match – if not surpass – its legendary Meursault Perrieres. These are Coche-Dury’s two top wines, and frequently the top wines in the appellations as a whole. Domaine Coche-Dury is a rather different kettle of fish. Based in decidedly workmanlike cellars below the most ordinary of suburban houses, it is run today by young Raphaël, who took over the helm from his father Jean-François five years ago.
Tasted early April 2019 the day before bottling, not surprisingly this showed a tiny bit of struck-match SO2 complexity. Despite the hint of reduction this showed lovely fine floral lift over what is clearly a very deep and rich wine showing obvious real old vine intensity. This is a real step up in intensity and character with the cooler site adding a little more acidity and lift to the wine. A fabulous village Meursault and an absolute steal compared to the $1,000+ cost of Chevaliers from his cousin. After relocating to NYC in 2013, they found that many of their  favorite vintages were not available in the US. Inspired by a lack of available inventory on the usual channels, they decided that it was essential to them personally and professionally to create a bespoke, world-class collection of fine wines available for US import.

Nowhere in the Côte de Beaune does the Chardonnay grape do better than it does here. Along the village streets are a succession of little houses belonging to the vineyard workers, mixed with more imposing dwellings. The stone-work on the 53 metre-high church tower looks like it... The 2011 Meursault Village is showing beautifully, offering up a classic bouquet of crisp green orchard fruit, citrus oil, toasted hazelnuts and pastry cream. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly textural and incisive, it's deep and layered at the core, with a racy spine of acidity and a long, penetrating finish. This is a comparatively precocious vintage for Coche-Dury that can already be approached today.
This vintage is celebrated for its exceptional balance and depth, featuring a complex bouquet of aromas ranging from ripe citrus to toasted nuts. Its aging potential is notable, with many experts suggesting that the wine has not yet reached its peak, promising further development of flavors and aromas over time. The 1992 vintage from Coche-Dury stands out as a legendary year, particularly for its Meursault wines. This exceptional vintage is highly sought after by collectors and wine enthusiasts alike, due to its remarkable balance and depth. The climatic conditions of 1992 provided the perfect environment for the grapes, leading to a harvest that was both abundant and of high quality.
The 2015 Meursault Village is showing very well, unfurling in the glass with notes of crisp yellow orchard fruit, Anjou pear, white flowers, honeycomb and hazelnut cream. The Comtes Lafon domaine, based in particularly extensive cellars attached to one of the village’s grandest houses, was built up astutely a century and more ago. It boasts well over three hectares of premier cru vineyard as well a precious slice of white burgundy’s crème de le crème grand cru Le Montrachet. Lafon Montrachet sells for many hundreds of pounds a bottle. At Rekolt, we understand the passion and precision that goes into collecting such prestigious wines. That's why we offer specialized services like professional cellar storage to ensure that your investment is preserved under optimal conditions until you decide it's the perfect time to enjoy or resell your bottles.

Full, rich, creamy, on palate with citrus, and grapefruit and strong acidity providing the base. Village wines blended or single vineyardIt seems like a growing number of producers in Burgundy are producing single vineyard village wines, thus changing the tradition of blending the village wines in to one cuvee. For some producers it’s an old tradition, but for others it’s a new approach.
Give this 12 months and you’ll be in a very happy place. Excellent texture, chalky phenolic acid complex that works brilliantly. The mid-palate depth is the thing that demonstrates the step up in quality here. We use prices from Wine Owners, based on the world's largest price database, carefully calculated to remove anomalous and outlying listings, designed to represent a realistic market price. Updated weekly, we look at the average price for one 75cl bottle excluding sales tax, to give an indication of what the market is willing to pay for each wine. We have scoured the world's top wine lists from Michelin-starred restaurants, 50 Best Restaurants, and World of Fine Wine Best Wine List restaurants, in order to ascertain global brand presence.
The 2010 vintage from Coche-Dury stands out as a particularly exceptional year, highly acclaimed for its remarkable balance and depth. This vintage showcases the winery's ability to produce Chardonnay that beautifully expresses the terroir of Burgundy. Wine enthusiasts often note the 2010's complex bouquet, featuring vibrant citrus notes alongside a subtle minerality, making it a standout choice for enjoying a truly exquisite white wine. Much much better than the 2014 drank a few days ago.
